ATS' MISSION AND VALUES

Our mission at ATS is to provide researchers and managers in ecology and biology with animal monitoring products and services of the highest possible quality and reliability. Our goals are achieved by depending on our people and their dreams, aspirations, training and hard work. To realize these goals all our customer service representatives are fisheries and wildlife biologists with extensive field experience in radio tracking and our engineers regularly spend time at field sites testing equipment. In addition to our ongoing training, we provide our people with a production and research facility second to none in the industry. It is our goal to be recognized as the unsurpassed standard of comparison in our industry.

Our accomplishments lead the industry. The principals of ATS were involved in the first successful automated animal tracking system at the University of Minnesota’s Cedar Creek Natural History Area. In 1969, we helped fisheries biologists with the transition from terrestrial VHF-radio applications to aquatic VHF- radio applications. ATS developed the first microprocessor controlled transmitter in 1993, a significant advancement in transmitter functionality. In 1998, we were the first to supply GPS collars to monitor gray wolves.

Our commitment to fish and wildlife biotelemetry can be traced back to 1963. This commitment continued with the founding of ATS in 1981 by a group of engineers and biologists who were among the pioneers in designing, developing and implementing fish and wildlife biotelemetry research projects at the University of Minnesota’s Cedar Creek Bioelectronics Laboratory. Original owners are still active in the company today with a combined 100+ years of experience in the biotelemetry field and continue to provide leadership and vision for the next century.
