BODY IMPLANT - COIL ANTENNA
A body implant transmitter with a coil antenna is surgically implanted into the
body cavity through a small incision and is closed with sutures. The transmitter is
fully encapsulated, including the coiled antenna. This design is used on a variety of
fish when there is a possibility an external antenna could become tangled. Training
is required to surgically implant the transmitter and there is a recuperation period
for the fish. This attachment minimizes fish behavioral changes. The field range of
a body implant transmitter with a coil antenna is approximately one-third that of a body
implant transmitter with a trailing antenna. An extended range option is available on selected models (those with "B" suffix).

BODY IMPLANT - TRAILING WHIP ANTENNA
A body implant transmitter with a trailing
antenna is surgically implanted into the body cavity through
a small incision and is closed with sutures. The antenna either
exits the body through a separate 1-2 mm incision or passes
through the gill cover and is positioned backwards. This attachment
method has been used on several different species of fish. Again,
training is required to surgically implant the transmitter and
there is a recuperation period for the fish. This attachment
method also minimizes fish behavioral changes. Good field range
is obtained through the trailing whip antenna.
An extended range option is available on selected models (those with "B" suffix).
