Advanced Telemetry Systems manufactures a wide range of collar transmitters in various collar materials. Our standard material is neoprene impregnated cotton duck belting which is durable, yet flexible under all weather conditions. On all models (except the smallest) the material is double layered with the antenna placed between the layers and exiting at the top of the collar. The layers are machine sewn together and the collar edges rounded to minimize neck wear.

ATS pre-punches holes in the collar to accommodate a range of neck sizes. Fasteners are designed to minimize protrusion to the inside of the collar. The collars are easy to apply and allow for fitting in the field. Most collars use two stainless steel screws and simple locking nuts. The smallest collars use a single stainless steel screw with a locking nut. All collars are applied using a nut-driver tool.

The external antenna may be either vertical at the top of the collar or bent slightly backward over the animal's back. A flexible antenna material may also be chosen.

Silver oxide batteries are used in the smaller models. Field range for silver oxide models is about 400 meters when animals are above ground.

In the smaller models the entire transmitter and battery are incased in a waterproof epoxy resin. The package is then fastened to the collar using an epoxy resin. Larger models have the transmitters and batteries enclosed in an aluminum or nylon case filled with waterproof resin and riveted to the appropriate width and thickness of the collar material. The stainless steel vinyl coated antenna is enclosed between two layers of collar material and exits at the top for maximum field range.

ATS also manufactures multi-battery large mammal collar transmitters for tracking animals such as moose, elk, elephant, and wildebeest. For extra long life, a two-stage transmitter circuit is used. For relatively long life and more range, the enhanced range option may be used (denoted with "B" suffix). As the output power or life of the collar increases, the weight of the batteries increases, thus increasing the collar size . However, considering the relatively large size of the animals these units usually weigh 1% or less of the animal's body weight.
